Our Dental Services - Crowns and Bridges
A crown is used to restore individual teeth which have fractured, decayed or have defective fillings where a large percentage of the original tooth structure has been lost.
Crowns and bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth when there are adjacent teeth which have good root support but otherwise require crowns. They can also be used to change the shape of teeth, reduce gaps or straighten teeth which appear crooked due to crowding, rotation or tipping.

Case 1 - Old upper existing 10 unit bridge was replaced by new crown and bridge unit to close spaces between gums and teeth |
|

Case 2 - Upper four front teeth had crown and bridge work to correct stained and crooked teeth |
|
The benefits of crowns and bridges are:
- They restore the natural appearance of the teeth and protect them from future breakage.
- They are very durable and long lasting restorations.
Procedure
Crowns or bridgework typically requires two visits (not including preliminary consult with models and diagnostic wax up of the desired results).
At the first visit, the teeth are prepared for full or partial coverage crowns depending on the patient needs. Impressions of the prepared tooth surfaces are made along with the opposing teeth. Temporary crowns are made to protect the prepared teeth. At the next visit, the temporary crowns are removed and the prepared tooth surfaces are cleaned. The permanent crowns are tried in and checked to ensure the patient is satisfied with the result. Permanent and strong cement is used to fasten the porcelain crowns to the underlying tooth structure.
